Chapter 187: The Surgeon
Abegail, although arrogant and twisted, was incredibly skilled in duels.
Kicking up a cloud of dust, she reappeared a few meters away from Ian, dodging his skill with one of her own.
Subsequently, when Ian tried to advance, he was met with another fierce flurry of arrows, giving him no choice but to focus on either deflecting or dodging.
If he forcefully tried to break through, then his head might pop.
Ian tried to use all of his gap-closer skills but it was no use, Abegail had just as many repositioning skills, allowing her to maintain her distance and continuously shoot her annoying arrows.
'Tch…Seems like I can't hold back anymore or I'll lose…' thought Ian as he skillfully blocked a few more arrows, sending them flying in different directions.
"Hahahaha! What now? I told you already that hillbillies like you shouldn't talk too much. Colzen Academy? Where the fuck is that? Come on, why don't you talk arrogantly now?!"
Letting out all of her frustrations, Abegail rapidly fired more arrows, steadily advancing as if showing everyone how superior she was.
However, in the next second, uneasiness crept into her heart as multiple dark shadows chillingly crawled out from Ian's feet, heading in different directions, neither too fast nor too slow.
Still, she kept firing arrows at Ian while occasionally checking the progress of the unknown shadows, lurking around her periphery.
She didn't know what Ian was up to so she couldn't help but slow down her fire rate to see what he was up to and if needed, quickly escape.
It didn't take long for her to find out what Ian was plotting as a shadowy aura emerged from within Ian while the shadows on the edges of the stage suddenly turned into his exact copies, exuding the same shadowy aura as him.
By this time, Abegail was already overwhelmed by uneasiness and her fire rate drastically decreased.
This was the first time she saw such a skill so she raised her vigilance to the maximum.
Once the clones made of shadows were done materializing, all of them, including Ian, smiled creepily and their auras vanished along with their existence.
They were there, yet…Abegail couldn't sense them. Even Ian's aura completely vanished.
He was there in front of her but she couldn't sense him at all. It was like he was nothing but air.
Taken aback, Abegail furiously shot a few arrows in Ian's direction, however, the arrows…simply passed through his body.
Gnashing her teeth in anxiety, she used her offensive skills, aiming to destroy the shadows one by one.
Fierce gales accompanied by high screeches caused chaos on the main stage as different hues of arrows flew toward the shadows, attempting to destroy all of them almost simultaneously.
However, the same thing happened.
All of the arrows passed through the shadows as if they were nothing but air, destroying the walls on the sides of the arena instead.
'What the fuck is this skill?!' Abegail inwardly raged.
She felt helpless, after all, how could you kill someone if they seemed to not exist?
To make things worse, the smiling shadows slowly walked closer to her, some of them weirdly stopping at different locations within the main stage as if they were covering their own specific areas.
As a result, Abegail didn't dare move and was petrified in the middle of the stage, surrounding her were a total of ten shadows scattered across the arena.
Subsequently, once the shadows seemed to have arrived at their designated positions, the one in front of her which she assumed was the "true" Ian, slowly walked forward while donning a frightening smile.
"Now, how about you guess which one is real?"
Hearing all of the shadows talk at the same time, something finally snapped inside Abegail's brain.
"You coward! Face me! Hiding behind your wacky shadows is unfair! Face me! In a fair fight!"
All the shadows burst out laughing after hearing what Abegail said.
"Hahahahaha! Oh please, that high-grade relic of yours is fair? If you truly want to have a fair fight, then how about we discard our weapons and have a fistfight? Do you dare? If not, then stop spouting bullshit and just find a solution instead of yapping senselessly."
Naturally, Abegail wasn't willing to engage in a fistfight against Ian so she stopped speaking and started firing arrows again even though all of them simply passed through.
Finally, her dreaded moment had come.
Ian charged towards her and she tried shooting him with arrows, certain that he was the real one but the arrows simply passed through him once more.
A crazy idea then entered her head which was to allow Ian to simply attack her thinking that his dagger would simply pass through her like a phantom.
Well… She tried but she couldn't do it. She didn't have the guts to.
Thus, with an agitated expression on her face, she desperately retreated while shooting arrows.
However, whenever she enters the area guarded by another shadow, the shadow seems to come alive and become the real Ian.
Finally, after struggling for a few minutes, she was caught by a ruthless slap once more sending her flying toward another shadow who then materialized once again and slapped her towards another shadow.
The sequence continued for a long time and Abegail was mercilessly slapped around.
At the beginning, she screamed in pain. However, after a few minutes of being ruthlessly slapped, she has now gone silent.

Her limbs flailed everywhere as her limp body hurtled through the air.
Seeing the current developments, everyone from Eusford Academy gnashed their teeth in fury. Especially the other male representatives including Harper.
After all, who wouldn't be furious seeing their woman get slapped around, only, they didn't expect that they all had the same thought.
As for the deans of Eusford Academy, it was their poor armrests who received the brunt of their rage.
"Brutal!! He's no clean-hearted guy! Ian Izanagi viciously slaps Abegail Fury around!! When will this torture end?!"
The sound of the commentator's loud voice reverberated once again, prompting the stupefied crowd to cheer and mock her in delight.
Most of them saw how this young woman humiliated the Grumblethorne representative so in their eyes, this was just a much deserved retribution.
Although Ian's clean-hearted guy title was now gone, it was replaced by another, more menacing title which he absolutely loved.
"Surgeon of the Shadows"
Part of it is due to how methodical he was in dismantling his opponents while another part of it is…due to his exceptional skill in rearranging the faces of his adversaries.
