Chapter 71: Chapter 71 – Run, Breeze! Run!

Run.

Max did it without thinking twice. He turned around and kicked the ground with all his strength. Right after he did that, the zombies managed to breach through the door. They chased after him with surprising speed that didn't fit their decayed bodies.

"What the heck?!" He couldn't help but curse as he saw them. "How are they so fast?!"

— They are zombies

— Do you need any explanation?

— Inhuman always fast

— It's surprising that you are faster than them. Really surprising

"Tsk! That doesn't help!" Max complained as he reached the entrance. He quickly knocked over the shelf and got out, slamming the door shut simultaneously.

He stopped in front of the police station building and looked back to see the situation. The zombies from inside tried to destroy the door and exited the building. However, after a few seconds, they retreated back slowly, one by one.

Watching that, Max became confused.

'Why?' He asked in his mind, 'Could it be that their AI is programmed to keep them inside this building? A limited spawn zone? If so… Then I am pretty lucky and unlucky at the same time.'

When facing an enemy with advanced AI or enemies that couldn't leave a certain area, that usually meant two things.

First, the game was programmed as such. They made certain areas for particular enemies so players could progress naturally without meeting stronger enemies at the start of the game.

Second, in case the game had no levels system, having met enemies with territorial restriction usually meant that they protected something. That something could be an important item or…

'A boss, superior enemy.' He clicked his tongue as he looked at the building before him.

The stream mission window popped up beside him as he moved his left hand.

[Stream Mission: Explore this abandoned building and kill all Infected and Zombies you meet!]

[Reward: 9,600 diamonds.]

'They give me this mission knowing this fact, huh?' He sneered.

Yeah, his viewers certainly guessed this kind of progression.

— Hehehe, he's frustrated

— Good job, FreakingBreeze. Trapping a clueless first-timer is always fun

— Breeze looked uncertain, this is the first

— He realized that there is a superior Infected in the building lolol.

— No need to praise me, guys. I have always loved trapping newbies and first-timers. I just want revenge against Breeze because I like him.

As Max had expected, they indeed knew about it. He crossed his arms and sighed tiredly. How should he tackle this problem, he wondered.

It only needed him a few seconds to decide. He had nothing in his possession, only the basic knife and a flashlight he found.

Slowly, he walked back into the building with a determined expression.

"I guess I need to do this."

— Damn… He's going

— Hyaaa! Brave Breeze! Marry me!

— Can he beat them all?

— How can he deal with that horde with only a knife?

Just before Max entered the police station once again, he stopped and looked up. Mushrooms and vines covered the buildings. On the second and third floors, many windows were broken. There were no signs of zombies looking out of them.

Seeing these alternative entrances, a grin appeared on Max's face.

"Let's reset the timer again. The five minutes will start after I re-enter the building, alright? I won't cheat and say that I survived even though I ran out of the building."

— Sure

— We can do that

— He's surprisingly fair. Surprising

— This grin… Breeze is going to cook something

— But why is he looking up?

— C-Could it be?!

"Heh!"

With a smirk, Max bit the flashlight and began to run toward the nearby wall and jumped high. His feet planted on the slightly destroyed wall, and he used them to propel himself up.

Stretching his hands up, he grabbed a thick vine and skillfully climbed up the building. His movement was smooth, twisting his body to gain the momentum he needed to pull himself up.

In just a few seconds, he reached the third floor and entered through the leftmost broken window. He took the flashlight in his hand and turned it on.

Apparently, he was in some kind of office. He wasn't sure because the room was already trashed.

Some places, such as the desk and half-destroyed shelves, had stars blinking to get his attention. They were loots that were waiting to be taken and used.

One of these loots stood out among the others. Max immediately approached the desk near where he stood and grabbed the loot.

[1x Handgun obtained!]

[12x 9mm bullets obtained!]

"Hehehe, I chose the correct room." He laughed as he examined the handgun he found in the room, much to the viewers' disbelief and displeasure.

— Nooo! He got a gun!

— Damn it! He can fight that horde now!

— He only got 12 bullets. Is fighting even possible?

— That handgun has a capacity of 12 bullets in a magazine. That means he only has a full magazine, and that's it. Unless… He found some magazines and bullets again, he will need to reload the bullets manually

— Thanks, trivia guy.

— True, but…

— Yeah…

— There are still many loots in the room. Besides, Breeze is good enough to kill zombies unarmed or with a knife.

As they said, killing all zombies with a full mag was probably impossible. But they were talking too early. There were still at least 5 stars that Max hadn't looted yet in the room.

"I feel bad that I chose a safe room. So, I will change the bet's condition again. The 5 minutes will start when I step out of this room." He said with a confident smile, "Right now, it's looting time, baby!"

All 5 loots were located in the room and were easily visible. He immediately took all of them and inspected drawers and places he hadn't seen to make sure he didn't miss any.

Bullets and mags were usually hidden in such places. There were also bandages and herbs that he could use to heal himself in case he got injured or bitten by zombies. They were really useful in survival games like this.

Indeed, he found them. Two hidden loots in the desk's drawers. There was a mag filled with 30x 5.56mm bullets and an antidote for a zombie's bite. The bullets were useless for him as he had no guns that used 5.56mm yet, but he could save it for later.

The other loots were like this.

[3x Scraps obtained!]

[1x Boot Knife obtained!]

[1x Gloves obtained!]

Two of them were useful, as gloves were defensive items that protected the player's hands. A boot knife could also replace his main knife if it broke, so it could also work as a secondary weapon.

Scraps were used as currency in this game to exchange for some items to create or rank up his shelter. It could also be used to buy and upgrade a weapon.

While Max felt it was a shame that he got no shelter-building material or other 9mm bullets, he was happy enough to get gloves and a handgun.

Putting on the gloves, he put his handgun in the holster that came with it on his chest and clutched his knife in his right hand. He was ready to move again.

Max approached the door and opened it, greeted by another zombie that stood right in front of it.

However, unlike before, he immediately moved and stabbed it in the head, killing it immediately.

"Let's do this, guys! It's time for a zombie massacre!"
