Chapter 93 A Very Literal “Sudsy Battle”
Lindy grumbled her way into the bathhouse. When she entered the room, her mood only declined.
The 100-by-50-foot artificial hot spring was running for the first time, and warm steam lifted off the rocks in the room. It was a heavenly sight, but it was tainted—by the beast women.
Naturally, humans and other cosmic races were present, but she only noticed the beast women because she was exceedingly jealous of their ears.
Lindy wasn't an obsessively jealous individual. However, the surreal look of desperation in Leon's eyes when a pair of cat ears was six inches from him was so profound the Dainty Death Squad members couldn't bear it.
She pouted and walked to the locker room, removed her green dress, unhooked her bra, and pulled down her light green striped panties. Once she was undressed, she returned to the hot spring, which already had two hundred women wading in it.
The area was colorful, showcasing the wide diversity of skin colors, hair, and ears. While there were countless differences between the women, their love for soaking and cleaning was universal.
A section of women was standing north of the center, pulling ropes to release a hot waterfall over their nude bodies. Every time one of the haremites pulled the ropes, the group burst into giggles as water crashed down on them.
The stone table at the center, which could accommodate twenty people, was packed with giggling women.
The south side of the spring was a deep end, and thirty women were wading and splashing around in it.
Cascading steps of natural granite lined the perimeter of the hot spring. The top step was perfect for women wanting to sit on top of the water. The fourth step brought water to a woman's neck.
The system allowed for four layers of women around the main pool simultaneously, and it was already lined with women relaxing with satisfied expressions.
Another fifty haremites were taking showers on the back wall, with another hundred waiting their turn at tables in the area.
Lastly, sixty haremites were in a 15-by-20 shallow hot spring, bubbling like a hot tub.
Caitlyn exited the locker room with a towel wrapped around her nude body. She appraised the area, taking note of the situation.
"Hey, everyone!" She called out, drawing the attention of the giggling women. Everyone's relaxed faces tensed up when they heard her speak.
"We're glad you're having fun and thanking the builders. You're perfectly fulfilling most of our objectives." Caitlyn said with a bright smile.
While she had her orders, she never forgot why Leon organized the party. So she worked toward completing her two objectives simultaneously: making Harem City attractive and leading the [troops into a sudsy battle].
Confusion washed over the haremites when they heard that there were multiple objectives.
"What are you talking about, Caitlyn?" Cynthia asked with a poker face from the stone table in the center of the hot spring. The amethyst-eyed elf wore a bathing robe, hiding her wet body.
"He told us to thank the builders and have the best bath of our lives. The latter request is subjective to the point of foolishness, but everyone is putting in a solid effort regardless."
"Incorrect. I'll amend your statement." Caitlyn replied mockingly, "He also said to lead our women into a sudsy battle."
"Don't you know what a joke is, lady?" Kazz laugh-scoffed in disbelief from across the room.
She was relaxing alongside the main pool's wall on a third step, her elbows leaning against the second step behind her. The woman puffed out her chest above water, highlighting her perfectly proportioned breasts, clearly unashamed of her body.
Unlike most haremites, her body language didn't tense when addressing the terrifying blonde.
"I'm following Leon's words." Caitlyn replied frankly, "I'd ask him for clarification, but everyone didn't immediately consent to their leader joining them. So he's not here, and I can't clarify."
The haremites pursed their lips. The blonde's statement was extremely awkward.
"About that." Quinn said with her wet red hair flowing over her shoulders. She was submerged underwater to hide her b-cup bust.
"Letting the man who saved us and built this city bathe with us should be implicit, especially when we don't have to worry about him being creepy." She reasoned.
"However, he wouldn't have accepted it without a meeting about guidelines and the assent of everyone present. So no one's at fault for that."
Caitlyn narrowed her eyes at the woman, making the redhead shiver.
"I'm confused why things are in dispute. Doesn't a sudsy battle sound fun?" Tricksie asked in perplexion.
A large group of haremites lit up in excitement.
"You're right!"
"I'm in!"
"Why not?"
"Not at all." Kern, the Viking-esque blonde with braided hair, scoffed, "You guys can have fun; just leave me out of it."
"I don't have a problem with it, but shouldn't we just let the people who want to participate have the battle?" Shawna, the beautiful black earth mage, asked, "I don't want to get my cornrows wet."
Many people agreed with her sentiment.
"I hate water." A cat woman said, "I don't want it on my ears."
"I agree." Another followed. Most of the cat women shared the sentiment, unlike the canine women who were in heaven.
"Don't we all have to get wet to use our god shampoo and conditioner?" Reina asked in confusion, "It restores hair and fur to luster. So everyone has to do it anyway, right?"
A wave of realization and excitement delighted some people.
"Look, that doesn't mean we have to use them tonight, right?" Zora, one of the dark elves, asked in a cold voice.
"You're telling everyone to enjoy something evenly. It's unreasonable." Zena, her silver-haired twin, added.
"Gahhhhhhhhh! Why is something this inconsequential a problem!?" Lindy yelled in frustration, "People are dying everywhere, and we're complaining about our hair and equity?"
"Whoa, calm down, Lindy." Fritz, the 2-foot tall fairy, requested, "No one's saying—wait, wait, WAIT! Calm down, Lindy!"
The fairy started waving her hands in a panic as Lindy summoned a massive hot cyclone ball with her lower demihuman power. It started the size of a beach ball and grew until it was twenty feet in diameter.
Her power allowed her to add soap; as a result, it was a spherical raging storm of condensed bubbles waiting to explode.
Her actions were permissible because she wasn't [attacking] anyone, and the group had obtained permission to use magic in the sanctuary to build Harem City.
"It's the apocalypse, for fuck's sake! Shut up so we can finish and continue our privilege by eating sushi!" Lindy yelled while unleashing the sudsy hurricane on the haremites.
The women screamed as the hellish blizzard of suds slammed into their bodies, leaving them disoriented and shocked.
Once the haremites could see and comprehend the situation, they looked around. Everyone was covered in a thick lather of soapy bubbles.
Kern looked at her body with a twitching cheek. "You have to be kidding me! Are you a child?"
Lindy gave her a mocking smile. "Are you afraid of soap? See? I can ask stupid questions too."
The Viking woman glared at Lindy with a murderous glint in her eyes.
"Says the woman who isn't wet." She scoffed, "You're a piece of work."
"Guys, calm down." Tanya, the blue humanoid, requested, "I'm sure she's planning to join in."
"Did anyone ask for your mediation?" Zena asked with bloodthirsty eyes.
"Keep your speculation to yourself." Zora followed with a frigid voice, "Your assumptions are meaningless when there's lucid evidence of her insanity all around you."
She panned her gaze around the area. There wasn't a single foot of space in front of Lindy that wasn't drenched in soap.
"This is absurd." Tanya scoffed, "Wind Dance!"
A massive flurry of wind kicked up in the area, sending a massive tsunami of sudsy water crashing into Lindy and Caitlyn, who accepted it head-on with grinning faces.
"Are you three happy?" The blue humanoid snapped, "I'm in full agreement with her. Not only is she one of our leaders, but I'm thankful for this bath! It's the apocalypse; you can deal with a bit of soap—"
The woman stopped speaking when she saw a shadow move past her. She didn't know what it was, but it left an icy chill crawling down her spine.
Tanya turned around and found Minx staring at her with crazed eyes half cut with homicidal intentions.
"Do you have cat ears masked behind some illusion, bitch?" The cat woman asked mockingly, "Silly me, that's a stupid question. You clearly don't. If you did, you'd know that soap on cat ears is like taking a bath in cooking oil."
"Sis, no!" Mindy cried while running at her sister in a tackle.
As she was about to make contact, Minx moved backward with surreal fluidity and moved around her sister like a ghost.
She didn't move fast, but her body gave the surreal impression she did. A shadow-like aura wrapped around her body, creating formless charcoal grey afterimages that melted into every natural shadow.
While the aura didn't mask her appearance, the afterimages made it impossible for someone to look at her without becoming disoriented and confused.
The only reason the people could follow the woman's movements was that her glowing neon pink eyes popped against the shadows, leaving them looking terrifyingly demonic.
Before Tanya knew what had happened, the cat woman's lips were next to her ear.
"Be careful. That temper only saves someone like Lindy because no one's powerful enough to cut the bitch." Minx whispered seductively, tracing a finger up the woman's shoulder.
