Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 38 Tessa's troubles

-"Lucas!"- His mother shouted again.

"Yes, Mom I am here. Please don't shout."

-"I-I can't believe I get to finally talk with you. Your father was so concerned for you. Hm? Yes you were, don't lie."

"Mom please, stay on the topic, tell me, are you okay?"

-"Yes we are okay, forget about that. Tell me about you and fast!"-

'God, she won't stop.' Lucas shook his head with a smile and told her a discreet tale of his not-so-safe adventures.

He took out many things like the two near-death fights with the rapacious plant and the fight with the Kobold. He changed it all to how they spotted a herd of creatures that seemed to eat the grass and killed them.

-"I am proud of you, my dear son~ So that is how you became level 3?"- His mother said with a warm voice.

"Wait, what?" Lucas was confused by what he heard. It sounded like she just told him his level.

"Mom, how do you know my level?"

-"What do you mean? it is right there with your name, can't you see mine?"-

Lucas realized that all this time, he was talking while looking at the little sky he could see from all those big branches and leaves and not the screen. Near his mother's name, there was a level... 2.

"Oh right, you are level 2."

-"You were always bad at finding things at home too, my son. Sigh~ When will you improve this habit?"-

Lucas started hearing how he should improve his hearing ability and do things with concentration.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

'Some things never change huh...' Lucas felt very good while talking to his mother. It was s if a huge load had lightened from his shoulder.

He changed the topic by telling her how he found his group. He didn't know why he hadn't told her till now but at last, he said that his skill was a shelter. Lucas's mother was very happy with the news, she told him that his father and hir had trouble making things format the scratch which made Lucas a little guilty.

"Uncle John, Aunt Ella, my mother is saying thank you for all you have done," Lucas called for them both and thanked them after his mother told him to do so.

"No worries, it's the least we can do."

"Oh, mom! Where is Tessa? Is she with you and Dad?" Lucas asked with excitement. he couldn't help but want to talk with his older sister Tessa who had taken care of him all his life even when his parents were not home.

-"Uhh... she is not with us."-

"What?!"

-"Don't panic! If you panic, then I panic! I was going to call her just now but yours came first."- She said with concern.

"Why didn't Dad do it? What's he doing anyway?"

-"Uhh... he's busy, I have to go now! call your sister and tell me if she's alright!"- She shouted the end part which made Lucas a bit worried. It was as if there was some trouble going on their side.

'DING!'

Another voice came into his mind and the texts in front of him showing his mother's name went away.

"How was the talk?" Ella asked with a smile.

They could all still hear someone crying and laughing at the same time on her own, it was Sarah. She had finally got to talk with his brother after parting for 10 days which felt like each day was a month's worth.

Lucas looked at Ella and smiled, a mixture of relief and concern evident on his face. He could hear Sarah's emotional outburst in the background, a cacophony of tears and laughter blending together.

"It was... weird," Lucas replied, his voice tinged with both joy and worry.

"Your mom was worried about you, young man. What is weird about it?" Ella said with a pissed tone. Lucas felt like he hit a nerve, he had almost forgotten that she was also a mother.

"Uhh... Nothing. I gotta make another call." Lucas's said and clicked on his sister's name this time.

DING!

-"Oh, you finally called huh? What's up Dork?- A feminine voice came to his mind yet again but this time it was not the same.

"Tessa, always so charming," Lucas teased, his voice filled with affection. "Tell me where you are and are you okay?"

"Lucas, we are going to call someone too at the side, we will be back soon," John interjected to which Lucas only nodded.

-"I am okay. I can't believe what's happening around, Lucas. Are you okay? You are fully intact, right?"-

"Yeah, not a single scratch, it seems we both were separated from Mom and Dad. Have you talked to Dad, by the way?"

-"No, he didn't call me. How will he, it's only been a few minutes since the option came to us."-

Lucas nodded, his eyes went toward her name to know what her level is. In a second, his eyes bulged out and a look of dumbfoundedness formed on his face.

"What the hell? How are you level 4 already? I am level 3!"

Lucas couldn't believe, the sister who had no interest in fighting physically other than her words was now at an even higher level than him.

-"... I don't want to talk about it... Just tell me that you're safe and okay."- Tessa's voice became a bit emotional which was very unusual for Lucas as his sister was the best at her poker face after their mother.

"I am perfectly fine, Tessa. I have a good house, many good people around me. Tell me, what happened?"

-"Lucas... many people that were with my group died from an attack."-

"What? Are you really okay, Tessa?" Lucas's heart was beating fast.

'She was attacked, but by who?' Questions like these were commonly floating in his mind.

-"I am perfectly fine, it's just... hard. These small green disgusting bastards are relentless. They keep attacking our camp. If not for my skill, I would have not survived Lucas"-

"Oh, I am not liking this, Tessa. What are these green creatures? And what's your skill?" Lucas asked with concern.

-"They are called 'Goblins'... small greenish or brown skinned animal faced bastards. And my skill's name is 'Ice shards'. I can make and shoot bicycle shards out of thin air."-
