Chapter 123 Drunk
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ Thanks to Tie Longkun offering to take over his shift and buying him a can of beer, Lei Zhen was able to change into his normal clothes.
Along the way to return home, Lei Zhen's face remained expressionless, but deep down, his emotion was wavering a lot.
His mind kept replaying the image of him arguing with Shan Lin and his disappearing back.
A friendship for many years was on the verge of being a stranger and possibly being an enemy as well was not an easy pill to swallow.
No matter how calm one can try to be, there was a limit to it, and today, Lei Zhen had broken the limit.
'What crappy weather we have today…' Lei Zhen thought to himself when he got off the train.
The weather was still pouring rain heavily, and Lei Zhen forced himself to use an umbrella. He did not want to let his sorrow affect his action enough to let himself be soaked in the rain.
That was akin to asking to be sick and considering that he lives alone, that would just be unnecessary trouble he created for himself.
Despite thinking rationally, Lei Zhen could not endure longer and decided to open a beer to start drinking.
Soon, a sizzling sound gushed through his throat as he tasted the bitterness of the beer and its alcohol content.
"Phew, that's some great beer…" Lei Zhen exclaimed, hiccuping in the meantime.
As a first-timer in drinking beer, his alcohol tolerance was ridiculously low, and his face had started turning red.
His footsteps were wobbling as his vision became blurry. It was a good thing that he was just a few steps away from his apartment.
Otherwise, he might have to sleep outside without knowing where he was.
Lei Zhen's current vision was similar to the Omnivision feature on Magnolia, allowing him to kind of maneuver his footstep.
Sometime later, Lei Zhen turned to another street block, seeing his apartment from afar.
However, he also noticed a flying car hovering above the sky, something that shouldn't be around in this poor district.
Alas, he was already drunk and couldn't focus on the car plate so he decided to continue walking to his apartment, only to be interrupted by a powerful wind current.
"What the hell?" Lei Zhen clicked his tongue in annoyance when he saw the flying car land on the ground right as he was about to walk past it.
His current behavior sharply contradicted his usual demeanor and action as Lei Zhen was ready to throw a fist at the driver.
The driver was violating a serious law for parking when a pedestrian was walking over, especially in the heavy rain weather so even if he beat up the driver, the law would be on his side.
Just when he was about to curse at the driver, someone from the passenger seat opened the door, and Lei Zhen was astonished.
It was Griselda and she was staring at him with an indifferent glance.
"The Lei Zhen I know is always calm and collected. Never does he ever do things out of character or act rashly in any situation. Yet today, I saw a drunk Lei Zhen who was ready to get into a brawl with someone." Griselda said, clearly scolding Lei Zhen.
"None of your business." Lei Zhen replied, taking another sip of his beer as he prepared to walk away.
Seeing his demeanor, Griselda snapped her finger and Samuel nodded his head.
"Understood, Miss," Samuel said, walking out of the driver's seat and making a karate chop action on Lei Zhen's neck, knocking him out.
"Make sure the rain doesn't pour on him and bring him to the apartment."
"What about you, Miss?"
"I'm coming along as well," Griselda said, grabbing a tiny orb object from her pocket.
She then threw it in the air and the orb transformed into a hologram cloak that shroud her entire body.
Afterward, she stepped out of the car and the rain that was pouring heavily was unable to touch her, almost as if there was an invisible barrier blocking it.
To the poor people, umbrellas were still the most common item to use against rain, but for the rich, there was a new invention to ward off the rain.
And that invention was called Rainover, a device that had a miniature orb creating a hologram cloak and hovered around the person, blocking off the rain without having to use their hand to hold another object.
Using the Rainover device, Samuel safely carried Lei Zhen back to his apartment.
Samuel placed Lei Zhen down on his bed and held a perplexed expression.
It seems like Sir Lei Zhen drank one beer and got drunk and his alcohol tolerance is extremely low too." Samuel deduced, seeing only one of the beer cans was drunk whereas the other five beer was still in the bag.
Griselda was equally confused as well since he was just fine earlier in Magnolia.
She glanced at Lei Zhen who had a drunk face look in disbelief.
"Just what happened to you, Lei Zhen?" She muttered, thinking that it was impossible to ever see such a sight from a clever and calm person.
"What do we do now, Miss?" Samuel asked.
"Just bring me some food over later. With his current condition and his previous impulsive action, I doubt he'll be fine if we leave him."
"B-But are you sure?"
Samuel was nervous as he glanced around the apartment of Lei Zhen.
Although he meant no offense in his words, it was clear he was saying this kind of apartment was inappropriate for her to stay in.
"My grandfather used to live in this kind of apartment in the past before making it big. So do you think I would be uncomfortable about it?" Griselda responded, her gaze turning cold.
"Apologies Miss, I'll get everything prepared for you." Samuel quickly said and dismissed himself, leaving the two of them alone.
"Before you go, make sure to utilize all information channels. I need to know what happened to Lei Zhen." Griselda commanded, her expression becoming colder by the second.
