Chapter 366: Timely Support

Chapter 366: Timely Support

Hearing the loud explosion, Yao Ran turned around and saw Wu Yehao and the others running toward Long Yu, unleashing their abilities at the mutant giant birds.

When Long Yu controlled the wind and increased the air pressure to force the mutant giant birds to descend, Wu Yehao seized the opportunity and summoned his golden thunderbolts.

Wu Yehao snapped his fingers, and a second later, the sound of thunder echoed through the surroundings.

Crack Du ruru- ru~!

Long Yu looked up and saw faint flashes of lightning in the sky. Sensing the change in the air and the static electricity in his hair, Long Yu quickly leaped back.

Just as his soles touched the ground, Wu Yehao snapped his fingers again, and a streak of golden thunderbolts struck the mutant giant birds trapped in mid-air.

Crack- Boom!

Watching from one of the buildings, Yao Ran closed her eyes as the golden thunderbolts hit the ground, covering her eyes from the blinding golden light. When the golden light disappeared, she opened her eyes and saw Long Yu staring into the air.

As she left the building, she ran toward Long Yu and worriedly asked, "A Yu, are you alright?" Long Yu turned around and smiled at her. He replied, "I'm fine. How about you?"

"I'm also fine." Yao Ran answered as she looked him over from head to toe, checking carefully before letting out a sigh of relief.

After making sure that he was unharmed, she turned to Wu Yehao and said, "Thank you for your support."

Wu Yehao nodded. "This is my duty."

As they were speaking, Shi Xuan approached and asked, "Captain, how are you?"

Long Yu looked at him and replied, "I'm fine. Are you injured?"

Shi Xuan shook his head, "No. But the casualties are high. More than half of the survivors died in this attack."

Hearing this, Long Yu and Yao Ran's expressions darkened. Just as Yao Ran was about to speak, Mu Xichen arrived.

He looked at Yao Ran and asked, "Xiao Ran, are you alright?"

Yao Ran nodded, then glanced at Hua Shengyang, who was busy treating the injured soldiers in the distance. Turning back to Mu Xichen, she asked, "How about you and the others?"

Mu Xichen replied, "We are fine, but we can't afford to relax yet."

"What do you mean?" Shi Xuan asked.

Mu Xichen frowned and explained, "This group of mutant birds shouldn't be the only ones attacking us. This base doesn't have any air defenses. I'm afraid they are also attacking other areas."

Just as he said this, a soldier approached them.

Looking at the group, he said, "Comrades, the west outer wall, and the south outer wall are under attack right now. Can you follow us to support the brothers guarding the walls?"

Hearing this, Long Yu nodded and agreed. "Sure."

With Long Yu taking the lead, Yao Ran and Shi Xuan also nodded in agreement.

Wu Yehao glanced at Yao Ran for a moment before saying, "I'm going with them."

With Long Yu and his team taking charge, Mu Xichen also agrees to help. "Count me in."

The soldier's eyes lit up with gratitude when he heard their answer. He saluted them and said, "Thank you, comrades. Please follow us now."

After the soldiers divided into three smaller teams, they moved in different directions. Long Yu, Yao Ran, Shi Xuan, Wu Yehao, and his men followed the soldier to the west outer wall, while Mu Xichen and his men joined another team heading to the south outer wall. As for the remaining ability users, they accompanied the last team to escort survivors and injured people to the underground shelter.

On their way to the west outer wall, Yao Ran kept looking at the sky. Sensing her uneasiness, Long Yu held her hand and said in a low voice, "Ran Ran, everything will be fine."

Yao Ran held his hand and asked, "A Yu, were there sandstorms in our previous lives? I don't remember any sandstorms happening in our previous lives."

Long Yu thought for a moment and said, "I'm not sure, but there should have been a sandstorm hitting the country for two months."

Hearing this, Yao Ran frowned, her fingers tightening around Long Yu's hand.

Feeling her hand turn cold, he asked worriedly, "Ran Ran, what's wrong?"

Yao Ran looked at him and whispered with a hint of worry in her voice, "A Yu, I realized that sometimes even you aren't sure about what happened in our previous lives."

Long Yu paused at her words. After a moment of silence, he said, "Forgetting some things occasionally is normal. Besides, this is a memory from my previous life. It's already good that I still remember some of it after experiencing rebirth."

Seeing that she still looked worried, Long Yu added, "I'm certain nobody tampered with my memories. This might just be me being forgetful."

He rubbed her cold hands to warm them while looking at her. When her cold hand warmed up, Long Yu gently rubbed her head and said, "Don't overthink it. What we need to do now is focus on the incoming battle."

Although there was always a feeling telling her that something was wrong, Yao Ran decided to do what Long Yu had said. She nodded at him and said, "Mhm, you are right. This might just be me overthinking."Nôv(el)B\\jnn

While they were talking, Yao Ran heard faint gunshots and screams in the distance. She looked out of the window and saw the mutant giant birds flying above the wall. This scene vanished her anxiety and worries, replaced by sharp determination and a murderous aura.

When the military trucks arrived at the west outer wall, one of the soldiers opened the back door and jumped down, followed by other soldiers and the ability users.

After they stepped off the military truck, Yao Ran, Long Yu, and the others followed the soldiers to the wall. As they climbed the stairs, the smell of blood in the air grew stronger.
