Reaching the top of the wall, Yao Ran's eyes darkened as she finally took in the grim situation. Besides her, the others were equally stunned by the scene before them.

The ground was covered with black liquid, blood, and the scattered body parts of mutant giant birds and humans.

Ability users threw their abilities at the mutant birds while others wielded whatever weapons they could find to fend off the mutant giant birds that were diving down to grab them.

While the others were still in shock, Yao Ran noticed a mutant giant bird diving toward a soldier. Realizing the soldier hadn't noticed the incoming attack from behind, Yao Ran quickly rushed toward him, summoning her vines as she moved.

As soon as she made her move, Long Yu and Shi Xuan followed close behind.

Yao Ran controlled one of the vines to form a shield on the soldier's back, blocking the attack. Bam!

When the mutant giant bird's claw struck the shield, its massive body was flung backward by the impact. Angered by the sudden obstruction to his meal, the mutant giant bird let out a shrill scream.

"Kii~!"

The soldier had noticed the bird just before it hit Yao Ran's shield, but he was in the middle of a fight with another mutant giant bird, so he couldn't dodge the incoming attack from behind.

Realizing he was unable to escape the two birds, Yao Ran reshaped the shield into a vine that wrapped around the soldier's waist. With a powerful pull, she dragged him away from the mutant giant birds.

Without the soldier as a target, the mutant bird's claws slammed into the ground, creating a huge hole where the soldier had stood moments before. As Yao Ran's pull flung the soldier to the others on the back, she charged at the two mutant giant birds.

When the soldier landed on the ground and was helped up by the other soldiers, he looked up to see Yao Ran unsheathing her long sword. With a powerful kick off the ground, she leaped into the air, raised her sword, and slashed down at one of the mutant giant bird's wings.

"Ran Ran, be careful!" Long Yu shouted when he saw the second mutant giant bird aiming its claws at Yao Ran's neck.

Hearing his warning, Yao Ran kicked the first bird in the stomach, using the force to propel herself away from the second bird's attack while pulling her long sword free.

As the long sword came loose, black liquid spurted from the first mutant giant bird's partially severed wing.

"Kii!"

The injured mutant giant bird screamed in pain and crashed to the ground.

Taking advantage of the moment when Yao Ran's body fell from the air, the second bird dove at Yao Ran with its claws aimed directly at her body. Just before the sharp claws could pierce her body, Yao Ran felt a gust of wind rush from behind her.

Slash! Slash! Slash!

A split second later, she saw injuries appear across the second mutant giant bird's body. "Kii!"

As the giant mutant giant bird screamed in pain, its body swayed. It lost strength and fell directly to the ground.

Seeing the mutant giant bird fall toward Yao Ran, Long Yu leaped to catch her. "Ran Ran!" Catching her in mid-air, Long Yu controlled the wind to carry them both back to a safe area. The moment his feet touched the ground, the massive body of the mutant giant bird crashed with a thunderous sound.

Yao Ran stood up and replied, "I'm fine."

While they were talking, the others had already joined the fight. Noticing this, Yao Ran and Long Yu quickly followed suit, joining the effort to slay the remaining mutant giant birds.

By the time Li Zhen and his team arrived, the number of mutant giant birds had already been halved. Spotting Long Yu skillfully killing a mutant giant bird with his wind blades in the distance, Li Zhen's eyes lit up with admiration.

Raising his hand, he commanded his team, "Take your positions and support the others!"

Hearing the familiar voice, Long Yu turned and saw Li Zhen approaching while deftly dodging the mutant giant birds' attacks.

"Are you the reinforcements sent to help us?" Long Yu asked.

Li Zhen nodded. "Yes."

Surveying the battlefield and seeing the situation under control, he added, "But it seems I'm late. With you and the others here, there is not much for my team to do."

Long Yu flicked his hand, sending a few more mutant giant birds crashing to the ground. He then looked at Li Zhen and said, "No, you have arrived just in time. I need to rest for a while, so you should take over this area."

Noticing the fatigue etched on Long Yu's face, Li Zhen nodded quickly. "Understood, Captain."

As Li Zhen took out his sniper rifle and began shooting at the mutant giant birds, Long Yu left to find Yao Ran and Shi Xuan.

Before he could locate them, someone shouted, "Look! What is that?"

Hearing this, Long Yu turned in the direction of the man's voice. At the same time, Yao Ran had already noticed unusual activity in the sand below.

The persistent sandstorm had made the area outside the base thick with accumulated dust

and sand.

Squinting into the distance, Yao Ran saw black dots beginning to appear in the sand-covered ground, multiplying rapidly. Her limited vision made it difficult for her to see them clearly.
