Paragon Of Sin

Chapter 1766: Interception

Chapter 1766: Interception

The auras locked onto Wei Wuyin shifted with the mysteries of ephemeral shadows. For the ordinary Supreme Sages, they would be as elusive as a shadow in the darkness, difficult to discern, identify, or determine their positioning and intent. However, Wei Wuyin's Celestial Eyes of Spiritual Divinity, the fully mastered version, was capable of viewing unseen divinities and observing the soul through its Soul Perception, ensuring that his perception was only greater than the average Supreme Sage!

"I wish you had told me earlier," Wei Wuyin shook his head slightly, remarking: "Perhaps I should have known since our ranking on the so-called beauty rankings was the same. Ah, inexplicable fortune is as wondrous as fated meetings! Haha."

Wei Wuyin's outfit was illuminated in a silvery firelight that burned intensely, enshrouding him in a mesmerizing radiance, and then the tint of the light turned darker and darker, soon extinguishing entirely. His outfit was no longer the same. It had morphed into his black and silver combat robes, a sheathed saber hung gently on his waist.

Shang Liu could only sit beside himself with worry and a sensation of powerlessness. To watch as your students become severely injured one after the other, with all three almost killed, and then seeing your last daughter of this lifetime be snatched away, her fate unknown, but her potential future as harsh and devastating as Xi Ning's, how could he not feel useless?

He had to expose a truth regarding his reluctance to allow his most precious last seed to become the concubine of a foreigner, regardless of his talents and skills, this was the Utmost Purity Mist, and there were bound to be better native candidates, hence the competition. She could become a Dao Companion with an exceedingly talented young man, facing the difficulties of cultivation together, not as a mere plaything or afterthought to some ungodly ancient being with too much going on.

In the end, this was his only choice. He had to remind himself of this before requesting Wei Wuyin's help, even being forced to reveal his daughter's selfish wants because Wei Wuyin seemed rather reluctant to take action. Considering there was a Resonant Qi Talisman used, he knew this situation was getting overly complex and there were too many shadowy machinations at play here.

Wei Wuyin didn't care about Shang Liu's self-pity or feelings of uselessness under the circumstances, unable to afford to pay that any attention as he felt the encroaching auras. They weren't ordinary auras by any ordinary metric, mostly because they seemed to be Spirits. Not Spiritforms like Wang Yutian or Spirits of Dao like Bai Xiu, but Spirits akin to the Spirits of War.

They were Spirits of Laws, forged with an inexplicable and irrevocable connection to the Three Thousand Realms of Heavenly Laws.

They were artificial spiritual existences born from a treasure on the level of the Nexus War Flag, fueled with Soul Light or another form of soul-nourishing item like the War Souls.

This Blessed named Su Yi has had some great fortune. However, they didn't seem to be born from a single treasure. He sensed multiple Laws emanating from these shadows, individually different. It was almost as if they were born or forged from different treasures like the War Talisman, yet there was a disconnect to their essence as well.

"So that's how it is," Wei Wuyin finalized his analysis on the matter. Wei Wuyin had more or less understood their origins. Because of this knowledge, he didn't intend to take this threat with any casualness, already changing out of his alchemist robes.

WHOOSH!

He flew! Following Su Yi and the mountain-slinging Sage! And as he expected, those spirits were well prepared and acted with lightspeed quickness.

Bzzzzt!

A strange sound buzzed through the world, ringing with an erratic rhythm. A series of lights flashed, all of which were infused with the auras of Laws, and Wei Wuyin found himself enveloped by a kaleidoscopic array of colors as mirror-like objects formed and shifted, twisted, turned, and folded within itself. The entire sight was dizzying to an unnatural extreme.

Wei Wuyin felt his sense of time, space, direction, and thought become increasingly distorted. He could sense that he was dragged to another dimension entirely, segregated from the three spatial dimensions.

From what sounded like a shout from beyond the abyss, echoey and deep, the sound of multi-vocals resounded at once, originating from different individuals sounding both young, old, male, female, cold, warm, and angry. There were seven distinct voices, however, Wei Wuyin counted nine shadows earlier.

"Faux-Resonance Array: Cage of the Boundless Dreaming!"

"You will not escape!"

"Stay here obediently."

The two other voices followed, carrying with them vicious spiritual spells that felt akin to the Fixed Soul Spell.

Once again, Wei Wuyin felt besieged by the feeling of trudging through a field of thick sludge while trying to conceive any thought or exert any control over his cultivation. Every single attempt had to first be met with the obstacle of wading through the Cage of Boundless Dreaming Array that was deployed, and after struggling to do so, to maintain a state of wakefulness and consistent thought, the next step was an activity akin to pushing a mountain across worlds just to think.

This triple-binding tactic would have been enough to put any Enlightened Sage out of commission for an uncertain amount of time, while likely forcing some ordinary Supreme Sages to be weighed down trying to extricate themselves from this attack.

Unfortunately for them, the Divinity of Endless Sky tried to perform a similar tactic, and despite having a true Resonant Soul Realm cultivation base, Wei Wuyin's body and mind flexed their innate energies while his mutated Laws' strength was gathered by his soul, and with a single breath of effort, the dual spells were dispelled.

Then, his Celestial Eyes observed the Faux-Resonance Array, an array art that can be used by Enlightened Sages by relying on their True Souls power, emulating the slightest bit of power true Resonant Soul Realm experts possess, requiring not just that unique soul energy but the aura of Minor Laws. If there was anything that Wei Wuyin didn't fear in the cultivation world, they were illusory attacks, formations, and arrays.

It only took a picosecond before Wei Wuyin discovered the flaws and control nodes of the array. Empowered by his Eden-Paragon Energies, Wei Wuyin sent wisps of light Alchemic Akashic Mystic Force into the array. He seized control of the array in an instant.

With a single thought, the array reversed itself. While he couldn't replicate the dimensional imprisonment aspect of the array to those outside its boundary, those controlling the array were immediately besieged by the distortion effects and were lost in a world of dreaming chaos.

The array was dealt with. However, Wei Wuyin still found himself pulled out of the three spatial dimensions and while there were no longer boundaries, he had to return.

WHOOSH!

The Infinite Void Wings unfurled. With a flap of the wings, he entered the void and returned to the stable space of the world. The Essence Sword Starfield was his first sight, especially the chaotic sword light flashing in the distance as two auras fought, one chasing and the other fleeing with all their might.

With three moves, Wei Wuyin dismantled each of the spirit's entrapment methods, lastly turning it upon themselves.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"How did you escape?!"

"You returned?!?!"

The two voices that were the launchers of those spells that could still the soul and suppress the Laws were unable to hide their surprise. Wei Wuyin finally got a good look at the two Spirits. They resembled the Spirits of War in general, but they didn't look ready for war, but dressed in fable-like outfits that were often depicted in immortal paintings.

There was an older male with a long, flowy white beard, wearing azure Taoist robes and hat, holding a horsetail whisk in one hand and a closed tome bearing the yin-yang symbol in the other. He had the aura of a transcendent being, exceeding commonalities, and exuded a strong soul aura.

This spirit was far deeper into the path of cultivation than Zhan Zhang, seemingly having vitality and a True Soul, directly exceeding Wei Wuyin's knowledge as even the Heavenly War Spirit was indescribably stunned.

"Artificial Spirits of Law can reach True Soul?! No, wait. They're not in the True Soul Phase yet…"

The other spirit was a gorgeous jade-skinned woman with phoenix-like eyes, dark hair, and red-plum colored lips dressed in imperial robes with a golden headdress that was decorated with a red-beaded veil that flowed with the gentle caress of wind at times, teasing an exposure of her full visage to the world. Her long-sleeved robes were embroidered with dragons, exuding an aura of imperialistic supremacy and royal nobility.

They both were unbelievable sights.

Wei Wuyin briefly admired their ancient styles and immortal demeanor. Then, his body flashed as he moved through the void. He appeared before the woman, and with a right hand, he slapped her across the beads and face, sending her hurtling across the Essence Sword Starfield until she exited its boundary like a meteorite entering an atmosphere, flaring violently like a miniature sun.

"...Wha—" The Taoist couldn't get a complete word out before Wei Wuyin appeared before him. Wei Wuyin used his half-transformed draconic hand to pierce through his chest, the claws breached every defense, exiting out from his chest with a splash of spiritual blood. The open maw of the old Taoist and a look of surprise weren't able to fully form before Wei Wuyin grabbed his mouth, and then yanked him from both sides.

The arm within him sliced through his lower body while the hand ripped out his upper body. Then, he tossed the two halves to two opposite sides of the starfield, sending them exiting out of the boundary just as fast if not even faster.

Wei Wuyin's eyes glowed. They genuinely were like Spirits of War, being nigh-unkillable without special methods. He didn't dwell too much on those two as he focused on the ongoing fight between Su Yi and the mountain-slinging Sage.

He blinked.

With an expansion of his Spiritual Sense, he locked onto the spatial frequency of the spatial dimensions of the mountain-slinging Sage's ring, and with the ease of an experienced thief, he gently waved his hand and extracted an unconscious Shang Wanqing.

He held her in a bridal carry. Her slumbering expression was incredibly mesmerizing, while her bouncy and ample twin peaks moved with her every breath.

"Sometimes, I forget I can do that." Wei Wuyin remarked with a laugh. He didn't forget to steal the contents of the Saint Rings of both sides. Su Yi wasn't spared at all despite having an ancient ring with protections.

"You just wanted to see what those spirits would do," Ori exposed without the slightest hesitation.

"Unfortunately, they tried to trap a True Void Dragon! Fools!" Kratos was in uproarious and scornful laughter.

Wei Wuyin didn't exert much of his strength to turn the tables. This only reinforced his belief that only a Supreme Sage would be able to bring forth a challenge from here on out. He couldn't help but think about that pleading-for-freedom Supreme Sage and the Divinity of Endless Sky. Should he find sparring partners before the intergalactic war?

It wasn't that Wei Wuyin grew too fast. After all, his cultivation base was still at the Mystic Star Phase, the first stage of the Mystic Ascendant Realm, but his foundation kept multiplying again and again, and on the path of cultivation, none of them ever left a single drop of potential to go to waste, exhausting it all.

Just as Wei Wuyin was about to return with Shang Wanqing in tow, his future Catalyst Body concubine, the stars of his Alchemic Stars of Transcendent Purity within his starry eyes trembled as if experiencing a seismic shift on a cosmic scale.

"Retreat."

A single-word order thundered across the Dark Void, but only those with Soul Perception could sense it. It carried with it the aura of an Alchemic Edict of the Seven Utmost Towers! A Dao Enforcer!

Su Yi severed the mountain-slinging Sage's arm with a single move, pushing them to the brink of death. He hadn't even unsheathed his sword yet the Sage couldn't even resist a few exchanges. Then, Su Yi turned after sensing his greatest ally take action, only to see Shang Wanqing being carried by another man in the far distance.

His pupils immediately constricted.

Wei Wuyin's brows furrowed, an expression he rarely ever made. "This is my future concubine," he said with Shang Wanqing in his arms held tightly, her face resting on his shoulder, and her warm, steady breath tickling his neck. As she did, a sinful light zoomed across his left arm.

The voice had only spoken a single word across the Dark Void, yet it inexplicably carried the intent of the soul. That intent roughly translated to: "You are forbidden from interfering."

Meanwhile, another soul intent had locked onto Su Yi protectively, staying largely silent.

Two Resonant Soul Realm Supreme Sages!

TWO!

Wei Wuyin thought for a moment, weighing the situation, and then looked down to see the utterly enchanting face and voluptuous body of Shang Wanqing, the soft feeling he had in his arms made her temptation incarnate. She was a Catalyst Body. She wanted to be his concubine. She was already in his arms.

Unfortunately for the owner of the voice, Wei Wuyin carried the Sin of Pride and the Sin of Lust, and he wasn't willing to give food in his mouth to anyone.

Normally, he would ask why, then the voice would definitely say because of his Supreme Sage strength acting against inferior Ascended beings after observing him dismantle all efforts to trap him while immediately laying claim to Shang Wanqing with a wave of his hand. At that point, Wei Wuyin would state that he wasn't a Resonant Soul Realm expert, exposing himself by revealing his cultivation. Maybe that would be able to bring this to an end. Maybe it wouldn't. However, Wei Wuyin just didn't feel like it.

With his Spiritual Strength which could be heard by anyone in range, unlike soul transmissions, he unleashed a retaliatory announcement, a command:

"Fu#k off."
