Chapter 741 Quarrel
The walk from the dining hall to the private meeting room of the Crown Prince was a little awkward for everyone.
Nobody said or asked a word since they were passing by other people and guards who weren't aware about the incident that just happened inside the dining hall.
And as soon as the guards opened the door to the designated place of entertainment, and left the Royals, and the lord and the lady alone, Joyce asked Ariel, "So, what was that all about?"
Before Ariel could answer Joyce, Victoria came and stood in front of Ariel while folding her arms in front of her chest. She glared down at Ariel and then demanded to know, "Why did you secretively call your father here in our Kingdom? And what did he do to me?"
"Victoria!" Vlad raised his voice from behind and further scolded his sister, "That's no way to talk to our guests!"
However, Victoria pretended not to hear her brother at all.
Instead, she glared at Joyce and then back at Ariel. And she rudely asked again, "Are you two in cahoots? Are you planning to capture our Kingdom? What's going on? I need an answer. Or else, I am going to reveal everything to my father." Discover more stories at empire
She smirked and kept on ranting, "Maybe I should reveal it to him anyway. Maybe he will finally take off his blindfold once I reveal how that Devil can easily enter our territory as he pleases. Who knows what he is planning already?"
With those few sentences, Victoria managed to provoke everyone who were present in the room.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Ariel couldn't even believe her ears. She couldn't believe that a Princess could have such a foul mouth and a rotten attitude. And all she could do was scoff in disbelief.
"Speak now!" Victoria gave the look of daggers at Ariel and growled at Ariel as if she was talking to a mere servant and not to another Princess.
Damien was even ready to throw hands at her because of the way she spoke with Ariel, acting all high and mighty. He stopped himself only because of the fact that she was a woman.
However, Damien instantly felt satisfied when he heard the sound of a tight slap echoing inside the room.
"Who taught you to speak like that, Victoria? That also to our guests?" Vlad looked down at his sister and asked in a voice that sounded calm yet at the same time enraged.
Victoria was shocked to her core. She was stuck in the same position after getting that slap across her face.
"Vlad, what are you doing?" Joyce lightly touched her husband's fist and tried to calm him down. She had never seen Vlad this angry, ever.
And Victoria had never once in her life gotten a slap from anyone. And to get that painful slap from her own brother shook her greatly. She slowly brought her hand close to her face and lightly touched her cheek that had turned red by now. It felt sharp pain even with that light touch from her finger.
However, her heart was hurting more than her cheek.
Streams of tears rolled down her cheeks.
She finally raised her head and looked at her brother. And she asked in a hurt voice, "Brother… How could you raise your hand at me?"
"And how could you raise your voice at the Princess of another Kingdom?" Vlad growled at Victoria without missing a beat.
"Did you even think that your dagger-like words could potentially cause great tear in our relationship with Wyverndale? Forget Wyverndale! Can't you see how much you hurt your sister-in-law, and her family?" Vlad looked utterly disappointed in his sister.
Victoria was still being stubborn and wasn't ready to see that she was in the wrong. "And can't you see that you are hurting your own family?" Victoria shouted while wiping off her tears. "I was just asking the questions that you didn't dare to ask even when you should have done so back in the hall!"
Vlad could not believe that Victoria was still hell bent on creating a scene in front of everyone. He pushed his hair back and replied in a controlled tone, "Victoria, first of all, Joyce is also your own family. And second, did you give a chance to Princess Ariel to explain everything? She was going to clarify everything to us before you decided to jump in and humiliate her."
The guests in the room were put in a very uncomfortable situation due to this squabble between the siblings. They didn't know whether to step in and stop them, or whether to wait for them to stop quarreling on their own.
But before things got any worse, Ariel decided to step in. "I understand her concerns, Crown Prince Vlad. The Princess is right to raise questions since I didn't explain anything before summoning my father here. So, let me clear the air so that all of us are in the loop."
Victoria instantly turned on her heels and then headed towards the door without waiting and listening to what Ariel had to say.
Vlad gritted his teeth and shouted on the top of his lungs, "Victoria!"
Victoria instantly stopped on her track. She felt a cold shiver running down her spine when she heard her brother's harsh voice.
"Let Princess Ariel speak." Vlad was glaring at his sister and shouting in the same loud voice, "You cannot simply fuss about not getting answers and walk away when you are about to get your damn answers. Now come here and take a seat before I make you do so."
No matter how scared she was at the moment, Victoria was too proud to do what her brother had asked of her. So, she stubbornly walked out of the room anyway.
Vlad's anger had crossed its limit. He clutched his fist and was about to follow Victoria out of the room so that he could drag her back inside.
However, Joyce stopped him by grabbing his wrist. "Vlad, it's alright. Let her calm down on her own. And you also need to calm down first. Else, you will scare your sister."
Vlad took a deep breath in and took some moments to gather his thoughts. After about a minute, he turned around and took a seat.
Ariel looked around at everyone in the room.
And they all also took their seats in the lavish sofa of that room.
Ariel finally explained everything that had happened in the dining hall that led her to summon her father for help.
Everyone understood the reason behind the sudden appearance of Theodore, and what he was trying to do to Victoria. Everyone except Victoria.
"I hope it was just my sister's anger and nothing more," Vlad heaved a deep sigh and said in a concerned whisper.
What do you think?
