Chapter 740 Looking Back
"Ary, what's wrong? Did someone try to hurt you?"
Ariel looked up at her father and answered him, "No, but I fear that someone might try and do something here."
"What made you say that? Did you perhaps see anything suspicious?" Theodore had deep frowns between his brows when he asked the questions to his daughter.
Ariel took a glance at the unsuspecting Princess of Romania. And then she whispered to her father, "Damien and I saw this immense amount of aura being released by Princess Victoria. But then, it didn't look like she was the actual source when she was the source."
"Am I making any sense?" Ariel sighed at how badly she had explained the situation to her father.
However, Theodore understood what his daughter was trying to say to him. He turned to look at Princess Victoria. And he asked Ariel while his gaze was on Princess Victoria, "What kind of aura was she emitting?"
"Anger," Ariel replied.
Theodore stepped closer towards Victoria to see her aura for himself.
Victoria felt a chill shiver running down her spine. She didn't like the fact that the Devil was walking in her direction. She quickly turned her head around to see if someone was standing right behind her. But there was no one there. And she could clearly see that Theodore had his eyes on her.
"Your Royal Highness, may I be of some help?" Victoria bowed to Theodore and asked in a little shaky yet polite voice when he stood right in front of her.
Theodore held out his hand and then asked, "May I? I need to be sure of something."
Victoria glanced at her brother with a confused look on her face.

Vlad also wasn't sure why the Devil was targeting his sister. However, he knew better than to anger Theodore. So he gave a quick nod to his sister.
And Victoria lightly placed her hand on Theodore's palm.
Theodore placed his other palm on Victoria's forehead and then proceeded to look into her soul for any signs of corruption.
For a few seconds, Victoria's consciousness was in a suspended state.
Theodore didn't find any signs of darkness in her soul, or any signs of her soul being possessed. So he returned Victoria to her original state and then walked back to his daughter.
Theodore then questioned Ariel, "I don't see anything wrong with her. And I also don't see the remnants of the aura of anger that you were talking about at the moment. So, may I look into your memory? Maybe I can figure something out if I see it."
Ariel's cheeks and ears instantly turned blood red when her father asked permission to look into her memory. She didn't want her father to dig too deeper into her memory and then discover the shenanigans between Damien and her that happened just before the dinner.
So, she reluctantly asked first, "Is there no other option than looking inside my memory?"
Theodore slightly raised his brows. But he could understand her concern since she wasn't a child anymore. So he promised Ariel, "I won't look into anything else except the dinner."
Ariel felt a sense of relief when her father declared that he wouldn't snoop around in her memory.
"I will hold you to it then," Ariel replied and closed her eyes.
Theodore placed his fingers on Ariel's forehead.
Ariel closed her eyes and said after calming herself down a bit, "Ready when you are, dad."
"Okay, here I go then," Theodore gave a warning to Ariel before diving inside her memory.
As promised, Theodore specifically looked into the dinner that happened not long ago. He immediately found out why his daughter was looking so concerned and scared.
That large dining hall was completely filled with a thick red aura. That kind of emission would only be possible by higher class beings, namely those who weren't mere humans.
Theodore looked at the rest of the memory. And stopped looking into it when he saw himself arriving there.
He opened his eyes and said after contemplating for a while, "That indeed looked bad. But since your grandma isn't involved until now, I think whoever or whatever is behind that unexplainable aura, isn't that big of a threat. So, don't worry about it too much."
"I sure hope so," Ariel replied while showing some signs of relief on her face.
"But, I would like to be completely sure." Theodore then informed Ariel, "Let me look around the castle and also the area around. And you can ask everyone in the room to disperse. None present here is a threat."
Ariel gave a nod to Theodore and then glanced at Joyce, who was patiently standing by Ariel's side all this while. Ariel wanted Joyce to relay the message from her father to Crown Prince Vlad.
"Joy…" Theodore finally glanced at Joyce and then gave her a hug. He felt a bit guilty for completely ignoring her when he was seeing her after such a long time.
And he quickly apologized to Joyce, "I'm sorry, Joy. I will catch up with you after a while. I am guessing that you all were going to have some entertainment? Why don't you go ahead and do that?"
"Sure, Uncle Theodore." Joyce gave a smile to Theodore and also added, "And I have something to share with you. So, please don't go back to Wyverndale without meeting me first."
Theodore sensed worry in Joyce's voice. He gave her a nod and then refocused his glance at his daughter. He planted a kiss on Ariel's forehead and then said, "I will find you later, Ary. Until then, enjoy yourself."
"Okay. And be careful dad," Ariel gave a smile to her father.
Theodore smile back and tapped on his chest. He became invisible before vanishing from the hall.
Ariel glanced at Joyce again and pointed her brows at Vlad.
Joyce understood her duty so she walked to her husband and said the things that she had heard Theodore telling to Ariel.
Vlad turned to look at everyone in the hall and then ordered, "All of you are free to go now. But keep in mind that leaking what happened in this hall just now is punishable."
He then looked at his guests and asked, "So, why don't we head towards my private meeting room? We shall continue with our original plan for the night."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
