The Typhoon's Dangerous Wife

"Here," Long Jie said as he pushed the iPad in front of Zhenyi. When she looked at him in confusion, he said, leaning against the desk. "I know why you're here. So, instead of wasting your time, I directly showed you the report." 

"Thank you." Zhenyi skimmed over the report and sighed. "I wonder how I didn't notice it before." 

Long Jie smiled as he replied. "Because the other party is intelligent. He was expecting you to be investigating him. Thus, he took all the necessary precautions." 

Zhenyi was looking at the details of the mess that Aria and she were in. Even though she had no right to punish Aria for the mess she had created as it was her personal life, she had to intervene because that scumbag approached him because of her in the first place. 

This was the reason why Zhenyi hated coming closer to people. She knew they would be used as pawns against her. Now take the example of naive Aria, the poor girl didn't even know what kind of problem she was in. 

"You know that's not your fault," said Long Jie. "Aria's naivety and lack of precautions are at fault here. You can't keep everyone safe all the time. You are no superwoman, Zhenyi." 

Zhenyi nodded. "What do we do now?" 

"You will go back with Sam and I'll handle this issue for you," Long Jie told her. 

Instead of fighting, Zhenyi said," Why would you do that? I mean you are definitely busy with your own problems. I don't wish to add more." 

Long Jie chuckled. "Remember a cop is involved. You hate dealing with them. Let me do it for you. I promise I won't give you any chance to complain." 

Zhenyi thought for a moment before nodding." Do it in your way. I'll talk with Sam or Aunt Jia about her later." A thought came to her mind and she decided to act on it. She threw her work phone at Long Jie and thankfully, he caught it in his hands due to his quick reflexes. "You will be taking my place at work until I come back. Bingbing and Cao Feng will report to you." 

"Wait what?" Long Jie froze in surprise. 

"You heard it right. I need 'me-time'. I don't know when I will be back but you better take care of everything," Zhenyi said as she stood up to leave.

"Wait, Zhenyi," Long Jie said. "You're making no sense to me." 

"Most of the time, I make no sense to me either. But I have been dealing with myself for twenty five years, haven't I?" Zhenyi said to him."Now deal with me. I'm leaving now. Take care of my money." 

As Zhenyi was about to leave, she heard Long Jie calling her name. 

"Wait, Cat eyes. I have to ask you something." 

Zhenyi turned back to hear what he had to say. Apparently, 'Cat eyes' worked like magic on her. 

"Do you mind if someone lives at our mansion in the south for some time?" Long Jie decided to ask her. If Zhenyi doesn't agree, he will arrange another safe place for Alcina and Faye.

"It depends on the person," Zhenyi replied normally.

"Come here, " Long Jie said. "I'll tell you the whole story." 

Naturally curious for story and information, Zhenyi walked back and sat on his chair while he sat on the table.

Long Jie told her about Faye, the situation with her mom and dad, and how it was so complicated, and why he needed to offer them a safe and secure face. 

"Can I ask you a question?" Zhenyi hesitantly asked him. 

Long Jie nodded with hesitation. 

"You are doing this for your brother's daughter because he is your benefactor or is there some other reason?" Zhenyi asked him. The question had been troubling her for a long time now. 

Long Jie sighed as he heard Zhenyi's question. "You know, Cat eyes, I never considered him as my benefactor. Surely, he saved me back then and I'll always be thankful to him for it. But he is the kind of person who never owes favors to anyone. I asked him why he did what he did back then? He said perhaps God sent a brother to him in my form. And that sentence stuck with me forever. All I know is that he is family and we never leave our family alone especially when the time is hard. Faye is my niece and I don't trust her mother enough to let her take my niece." 

"So, a woman will be living with her daughter at our home?" Zhenyi said with a bitter expression. 

Long Jie had an urge to kiss her right there and then but he controlled himself. She wouldn't let him touch her. Especially when nothing was right with their relationship.

"Do you hear the part where I said she is just Faye's mom, nothing else?" Long Jie asked her. "Moreover, you know her." 

"Is Faye's mom that third grade bad girl *cough* I mean Esma dermott?" Zhenyi asked him. 

"Third grade bad girl?"Long Jie asked her with an amused expression. If Esma knew what her wife called her, she would certainly come here to pull her hair. 

"She wears black all the time, thinking she is some kind of bad girl," Zhenyi said with a nonchalant tone. "You better stay away from her." 

"Zhenyi, she is not Faye's mom. Esma is my only friend. Well, I'll appreciate it if both of you won't come face to face, " Long Jie told him. "Alcina is Faye's mom. Remember the lady you met two days ago at the club?" 

Zhenyi closed her eyes to remember the face of the woman she met that day. When she opened her eyes, she looked at her husband in shock. 

"Give me my phone back," Zhenyi said and Long Jie passed her the phone. She fiddled with the phone and showed a picture to Long Jie. "Does Alcina look like her?" 

Long Jie looked at both the picture and Zhenyi in surprise. "I don't know. I have never seen Alcina. But Faye's eyes resemble this woman." 

He then asked the question Zhenyi never wanted him to ask. "Who's this woman, Zhenyi and how do you know her?"

"Can I not answer this question?" Zhenyi asked and Long Jie immediately replied with a No. 

"The woman in the picture might be Long Ah-Shaan's lover or wife."
