You're My Only Star

As it was time to clock out, Song Xing Xing walked around the studio to look around. Her lips turned up upon seeing that the familiar vehicle was not parked at the side door.

She was a little worried that Lu Xun would show up anyway despite her reminder that he did not have to come and pick her up. Fortunately, he had listened to her.

Song Xing Xing turned around and froze when she saw that someone was standing right behind her. Song Xing Xing held her breath and felt the urge to cry when she saw that it was a familiar face. 

"Yu Sheng! Why did you scare me like this?" 

What is it with people and scaring her? This morning, it was Huo Yun Chen and now it was Liu Yu Sheng!

Liu Yu Sheng followed Song Xing Xing's gaze and looked out the building. A deep frown appeared on her face when she could not find out anything outside. She gave her friend a look over and raised a brow. "Why are you so scared?" She narrowed her eyes and suddenly, her lips curled into a teasing smile. "Xing Xing, did you do something wrong?"

"You're thinking too much." A guilty look flashed on her face. "Ever since that last time, staying at this studio after working hours is pretty scary. I thought that you were that thing."

Liu Yu Sheng had seen the CCTV recording at the security office. They have witnessed how the computer has suddenly turned on and the chair started to move even though there was no one around. 

A cold wind breeze through them.

They both shivered in fear as the girls recalled that incident.

Song Xing Xing held her friend's arm tightly and the two of them walked towards the exit in a hurry.

Once they arrived at a place where there were many people around, Song Xing Xing heaved a breath of relief.

"Xing Xing, why do I think that you have been acting a little strange recently?" Liu Yu Sheng asked as they walked out of the building. "What have you been keeping away from me?"

Song Xing Xing lowered her head. Then, she looked up again and looked at her friend with the same suspicious look. "Then what about you? Liu Yu Sheng, what have you been keeping away from me?"

"Don't change the subject." 

Song Xing Xing clicked her tongue and gave her friend a look over. "Don't think that I haven't noticed anything. Liu Yu Sheng, what's going on with you and Ning Yan?"

Liu Yu Sheng shifted her gaze away. "I don't understand what you are talking about."

Song Xing Xing opened her mouth to call out her friend's lies but at this time, a vehicle parked across the street blew its horn. She turned her head and gasped upon recognizing the vehicle. 

"Yu Sheng, I have to go now. My cousin is here to pick me up."

Liu Yu Sheng nodded. A breath of relief escaped her knowing that she could escape her friend's interrogation at this time.

Song Xing Xing jogged towards the vehicle and slid into the passenger's seat. She looked around and found that her cousin was alone. "Where's my sister-in-law?"

"She's helping Xiao Jun to get ready. We'll stop by at my place to pick them up first." Song Yi said. He looked at his cousin and raised a brow. "What is it? You're hungry?"

"No. It's fine." 

Song Yi started his car and focused on his driving. As he entered the main road, Song Yi glanced at his cousin and spoke, "Xing Xing, can I ask you for a favor?"

"What is it?" Song Xing Xing asked without a second thought.

"There's this new horror movie airing in the cinema. I'm thinking of taking your sister-in-law to watch them," Song Yi said. "If you don't mind, could you look after Xiao Jun later? The show started at midnight."

Song Xing Xing narrowed her eyes. 

She should have known that her cousin had different agenda when he invited her to join this dinner. It turned out that he wanted her to look after the baby while he takes her sister-in-law on a date!

"You could also come with us if you wanted to," he continued.

Song Xing Xing knew that this invitation was insincere. She did not dare to join the couple as the third wheel. Moreover... after seeing the real thing appeared in front of her not too long ago, Song Xing Xing no longer dared to watch a horror movie.

"I'll look after Xiao Jun. Cousin Brother, you go and enjoy your date with sister-in-law." She then leaned back on the seat and took out her phone. As she was browsing through her friend's moment, Song Xing Xing seemed to recall something important.

Earlier, Lu Xun had told her to text him the moment Song Yi picked her up.

After a brief hesitation, Song Xing Xing sent him a text message to inform Lu Xun that she was with Song Yi. 

Lu Xun was in the middle of browsing through the documents that Bei Yuan had sent to him earlier when his phone on the desk chimed. He reached to grab his phone absentmindedly and saw the message notification.

The corner of his lips tilted up to a smile upon seeing the name on the screen. It was then that he realized that it was time to clock out. 

Lu Xun replied to her message and called his assistant into his office.

Bei Yuan walked into the office and noticed that the atmosphere was a bit wrong.

A few hours ago, his boss was still in a good mood. Who provoked him and turned him into this stranger?

"President Lu," Bei Yuan spoke cautiously. "What can I do for you?"

"Why didn't you remind me about the time?"

Special Assistant Bei Yuan hesitated. He tried to remember if his boss had given him any instruction but nothing came to his mind.

"Bei Yuan."

The assistant jumped, feeling a little frightened that his boss was going to scold him. These days, President Lu Xun's mood was very unpredictable.

"Accompany me to dinner."

"Ah?"

Lu Xun raised his head and pushed his glasses with his finger. "You have another plan?"

"No. I'm free," Bei Yuan answered quickly. "President Lu, are you having a meeting with a business partner?"

"It's time for dinner. Don't you have to eat as well?" Lu Xun said. He saw the dumbfounded look on his assistant's face and chuckled. "Don't worry. I won't make you pay.. It's my treat."
