You're My Only Star

Initially, Song Xing Xing was not planning to invite Lu Xun to her place. After all, with Mr. Fluffball around, she could almost imagine the mess she would see the moment she walked into the place.

However, this person kept on sending her a pitiful look. In the end, her resolve began to waver and Song Xing Xing invited her to her apartment. She decided that she should not mind much as this was not the first time that Lu Xun had entered her apartment.

The moment she entered the door, Song Xing Xing could hear the sound of the cat running over. A few seconds later, the sound of something fell and crashed was heard.

Song Xing Xing stared at her cat who suddenly appeared at the doorstep and wondered just how much mess he had made.

"Meow!"

Mr. Fluffball stared at his master before he shifted his gaze to Lu Xun. Then, he walked over slowly and started to rub his head around Lu Xun's legs.

The corner of her lips started to twitch. This was the first time that she had seen such things. Each time that she had returned from work, this cat had never welcomed her at the door.

How come Lu Xun got special treatment?

This was not fair! Whose cat was he anyway?

"Mr. Fluffball, did you miss me?" 

Hearing that the man was talking to her, Mr. Fluffball was happier. Moreover, this person seemed to remember his name.

Song Xing Xing scoffed as she watched Lu Xun lifted her cat into his arms. Quickly, she turned around and decided to ignore the cat and the man at the door.

As she turned into a corner, Song Xing Xing was surprised at the mess that Mr. Fluffball had made. She turned her head and stared at the cat helplessly. The new pot of plant that she had bought a few weeks ago was now broken.

"Meow!"

Mr. Fluffball looked at her with his innocent gaze. Then, he turned to Lu Xun and gave him the same look. He was in a hurry when his nose picked up the familiar scent. He did not break the pot on purpose.

"Let me help you and clean that up." Lu Xun offered. He put down the gray cat on the sofa before he looked around to find a broom.

"It's fine. You're a guest. How can I let you clean up the mess." Song Xing Xing put down the grocery bags on the table and opened the small cabinet where she kept the broom. "Just sit down and look after Mr. Fluffball."

Just then, the broom on her hand disappeared and was now in Lu Xun's hand. 

"Let me do it. Anyway, I'm about to mooch free meals from you."

Song Xing Xing did not mind much about letting him eat free meals at her place. After all, Lu Xun had spent a lot of money on her lunch. She cannot compare the lunch box from Dynasty Restaurant to her food.

Seeing the look in his eyes, Song Xing Xing decided to let him help her around. 

"Then, I'll go and get change first." She turned to her cat and warned, "Mr. Fluffball, behave yourself."

"Meow!"

Mr. Fluffball knew that he is a good cat and would always be well-behaved. His master did not need to remind him of such things. With that in mind, Mr. Fluffball looked away and watched as the bespectacled man started to clean up the mess he made earlier.

Song Xing Xing reentered the living room once she had changed into a comfortable t-shirt and pants. Seeing that Lu Xun was still cleaning up the scattered soils, Song Xing Xing decided to head to the kitchen and started to cook.

She took out the ingredients she bought and decided on the menu. The groceries she bought should be enough for a few days. However, with Lu Xun around it seemed that she had to visit the groceries again sometimes soon.

As she was washing the vegetables, Lu Xun entered the kitchen with Mr. Fluffball in his arms. The cat was lying lazily in his arms and it did not look that he wanted to part with Lu Xun.

"You're alright with noodles, right?"

"I am fine with anything you cook." His eyes behind the glasses brightened. 

He had thought that he would be satisfied after this girl had let him stay for dinner. The thought that he would be allowed to taste her cooking made him feel a little excited. 

Lu Xun stayed at the side without making any sound. He walked over to the small bar and took a seat. With Mr. Fluffball on his lap, Lu Xun continued to watch the girl as she cut the vegetables skillfully. 

"You're really good with your knife skills," Lu Xun said. "I did not think that you would be this good."

"Mmm… I picked up a few skills after staying alone for some time. Moreover, after watching a few cooking shows on the television, I thought that it would be fun to try and make them as well." She glanced at Lu Xun and smiled. "Don't worry my cooking skills are not that bad. At least, I can assure you that it will be edible."

Lu Xun did not mind at all. Even if the taste would not be good, he was determined to compliment her. As the person who was pursuing a girlfriend, wasn't that what he was supposed to do? 

The fried noodles that Song Xing Xing made were done after a while.

Lu Xun stared at the bowl of noodles with an amazed expression. The various types of vegetables mixed in the noodles made it looked vibrant and appetizing. Noticing her expectant look, Lu Xun picked up his chopstick and took a bite. 

The noodles were surprisingly delicious.

"How was it? It's not that bad, right?" Song Xing Xing grew anxious when the man continued to keep his silence for a long time.

Earlier, she had tasted the noodles and knew that they tasted good. However, Lu Xun's reaction made her doubt herself. 

Lu Xun looked up and smiled. "It tasted really good."

The auntie at his place was a great cook but at this time, Lu Xun suddenly had this idea to come over and mooch free meals from this girl instead.

He had thought that he wanted to win her heart through her stomach. But now, it seemed that she was the one who had won his heart instead...

Song Xing Xing let out a breath of relief.

As he continued to eat the noodles, Lu Xun recalled the reason he had come to look for this girl. He placed the chopsticks down and turned to the living room. When he returned to the dining table, Lu Xun was holding a card. 

"I was invited to an entertainment award next month.." Lu Xun leaned forward and smiled. "Xing Xing, how about accompanying me to this event?"
