She immediately looked away from him. It was then that Xia Yu noticed that Brother Xiang was no longer around.

"Where is Brother Xiang?"

"He went back to settle a few things first," Huo Yun Chen said. "Are you hungry?"

Xia Yu nodded but then, she shook her head. "I'm not really hungry."

Huo Yun Chen nodded. "Then, go and take a hot bath first. You should be tired after going through everything the past few days. I already prepared the water."

"Alright." Xia Yu quickly agreed. Her guilt made her feel a little awkward to face Huo Yun Chen. She stood up quickly and made a run to the bedroom.

However, before she could leave, Huo Yun Chen had already grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his embrace.

Her eyes widened in surprise. Xia Yu was not expecting this sudden move. A few seconds later, Xia Yu began to notice that the man had tightened up his arms around her body, making it hard for her to breathe.

"Yun Chen." Her brow furrowed. "You're hurting me."

Huo Yun Chen snapped out of his trance and slowly loosened his arms. "Sorry." He rested his chin on her shoulder and inhaled her scent. "The thought of you leaving me again made me a little scared."

Xia Yu lowered her gaze. She did not think that Huo Yun Chen would feel this way. The two of them only got together for a few months and she had thought that his feelings towards her were not that deep.

Unfortunately, she was wrong.

"Xia Yu, promise me that you will not leave me again alright?" Huo Yun Chen whispered to her ears. "Just stay by my side and let me take care of you."

Xia Yu raised her head and put her hand on his cheek. Their gazes met and they continued to look t each other for a long time. Seeing that the look in his eyes had grown softer, Xia Yu leaned over to kiss his jaw.. "I promise."
