Chapter 85: Chapter 85 – Veteran and Newbie, Versus! [4]

Entering the game, RoninKnight and MadLad appeared in the clearing. Both of them had different weapons: a shield and sword for the former and a greatsword for the latter.

They agreed to start immediately and gave out the sign to the production crew. After receiving confirmation that it was already live, RoninKnight pressed the start button.

[Fort Siege Start!]

[3…2…1…]

[GO!]

"Oh! The RoninKnight and MadLad pair are moving at a fast speed! They are trying to face the barbarian army from the front! It's different from the world record run, where they try to only deal with enemies that keep them from reaching the fort! How brave!"

Evelyn commented excitedly, raising her voice to match the atmosphere.

On the screen, MadLad rushed forward with his greatsword. It looked heavy, but he dragged and swung it without any problem.

Swoosh!

"Hahaha! Come on! Come on!" MadLad laughed crazily as he hacked the barbarians into two. He had no technique whatsoever, but his strength was praiseworthy.

Unable to defend against the greatsword, the barbarian army was forced to back up. Seeing that, MadLad stopped and shouted.

"Bro!"

"On it."

RoninKnight ran forward, passing MadLad on his way. He was quicker and could use his shield to defend against the incoming arrows.

Using this chance, MadLad chose to run toward the hill to climb onto the wall.

"Oooh! He's running. I see, so their plan is to make a diversion and take the flag after they manage to do it!" Evelyn analyzed quickly and turned to StoneSword, "As the world record holder, what's your comment, StoneSword?"

"That's a good strategy." StoneSword nodded in approval.

"MadLad is also using a greatsword, so his movement is quite limited. It's good to make the barbarian army fear him first and then aggro them to RoninKnight, who has a shield. I believe after MadLad manages to climb up the wall, RoninKnight will enter the fort."

"I see! That's a deep analysis." She nodded in understanding.

Just like what StoneSword had predicted, the pair did exactly that strategy. Max observed while humming in disapproval.

"He could climb faster than that..." He unintentionally blurted out, getting everyone's attention.

"What do you mean by that, Breeze?" Evelyn asked, appearing innocent.

— Yeah, what do you mean?!

— Don't be arrogant, newbie! MadLad already climbed as fast as he could!

— He has a greatsword. Think about that too!

The viewers didn't seem to like what he blurted out too.

Realizing that, he cursed in his mind, 'Shit, my mouth!'

"I believe what player MadLad did earlier was already quite fast. Can you explain why you said he could climb faster?"

"Well…" Max scratched his cheek. He knew he should explain it so he wouldn't appear to be so arrogant. "It's like this. He climbed while putting his greatsword behind his back, right? I believe he will be able to climb faster if he throws his greatsword up first and then climb. There is no need to bring extra weight."

It was just a simple solution that everyone should be able to think about. But there was a problem.

"What if the enemy appears when he's unarmed?" Evelyn asked once again.

"What if the enemy appeared?" Max returned the question in confusion. Everyone was still looking at him. "Just kick the enemy or drag him down. Simple, no?"

— …

— That's right

— Could it be MadLad is the stoopid one?

— Yeah, that's a simple strategy that even a noob knows. It's just not realistic with their skill. But a skilled player should be able to drag the enemy down

— True, and their aggro is now focusing on RoninKnight

Everyone didn't think it was strange either. The essence of speedrun was to finish the instance as soon as possible.

"Or he can just do a wall run!"

Flexy suddenly added with laughter.

"Climbing like that is too slow. He can save a few seconds if he can run on the wall and pull himself faster. Right?" He winked at the camera, showing a perfect smile that was somehow irritating.

— As if anyone can do something like that

— Well, when we think about it again… Breeze can do wall run and probably climb faster

— That's why he said MadLad is slow… Damn, even a skilled player is slow in his eyes

— Godlike! No one will doubt him!

— But Flexy is irritating! That smile is so annoying! Can I punch him? I can, right?

— Gooo, MadLad!!

"I see. That's one way to take the speedrun!" Evelyn commented and decided to change the subject.

"Oh, look at them! It's only 20 minutes, and they are now on the second part of the speedrun. MadLad is going to the southern wall while RoninKnight prepares to face Gargantua!"

The atmosphere quickly returned to normal. They returned to cheer on the first pair.

"Uoooghh!!" Shouting loudly, MadLad swung his greatsword and fought the barbarians above the wall. They were stronger individually than the army they fought on the ground, and he had a rather hard time facing them.

However, he managed to breach their confinement and ran toward the tightrope section in the southern wall. Luckily for him, no other enemies were trying to stop him.

"He got a pretty good RNG." StoneSword chirped in.

Max agreed with him. In his run with Flexy, he would definitely meet at least 9 to 12 enemies on the wall. Meanwhile, MadLad had only encountered 5 so far, and that was after he was about to reach the southern wall.

'Some people say luck is a part of skill. I guess they meant something like this.'

It sounded unfair, but it couldn't be helped as the game was designed like it.

Passing the tightrope was difficult for MadLad. He had a hard time doing so and moved ever so slowly, trying to balance himself.

Meanwhile, RoninKnight had arrived at the dining room where Gargantua was and fought him. Sparks flew by as their swords contacted each other.

Clang! Cling!

"The fight has started, everyone! Look at the sparks that were sent flying when their swords clashed. It looks so cool!" Evelyn added to the excitement with her comment.

RoninKnight appeared calm as he exchanged fiery blows with Gargantua, a barbarian twice his size. Their battle was intense and destroyed the long table inside.

Clang! Clang!

"Ugh!"

"Hahaha! Knight, move faster!"

Loud clanging sounds from a sword hitting the shield, metal meeting metal, echoed loudly. Before long, RoninKnight managed to see an opening and thrust his sword.

"Hah!" He shouted loudly.

Pierce!

The sword went through the armor, going straight into Gargantua's heart. The giant vomited blood, and his body slowly fell.

"Bas…tard."

With that as the last word, the boss was felled. On top of the fort, MadLad was also able to take down the flag and protect the area from the incoming barbarians until the other knights arrived and put up Rami Kingdom's flag.

"They did it!" Evelyn exclaimed excitedly.

The celebration occurred on the screen as they finished the run. RoninKnight looked up and saw MadLad raising his arms through the hole in the ceiling.

Letters began to appear in front of them, showing the result.

[Fort Siege Successful!]

[Final time: 00:50:25]

They managed to enter the top 30 in the speedrun ranking with their time.

"That's amazing." Max clapped his hands like the others, congratulating them.

As expected, ignoring their personalities, the streamers invited to this program are skilled.

'I wonder what kind of strategy StoneSword and LilyPixel will pull later.'

Both RoninKnight and MadLad still had one more run before it was StoneSword's turn. And Max's turn would come after that. But he couldn't help but get excited.

'Aah... I want to play soon.' He sighed.
