Infinite Potential System

Chapter 436 Released

While events unfolded on Reius, William was in the final stages of absorbing the Superior Blessing Vein, the last Elemental Vein in the World. It was also the final seal to break before Efretta was released, which placed William on high alert.

Fria was busy increasing her strength on Reius and preparing for any accidents, so William was all alone at this point. His Companion Beasts were able to handle the Beast Tides for the most part, but without Fria around he often found himself needing to hatch more creatures.

The Companion Beasts weren't invincible. If they died, they died. When this happened, William received a backlash that caused an incredible amount of pain and locked out a portion of his soul. Because of this, William found that he wasn't able to unleash the entirety of his Soul Strength.

During the course of four months, William never saw another Ascended creature. It was as if the Heavens had given up on sending strong beings after him.

I guess it's a waste of energy to try to stop me now. If the Skeletal Dragon wasn't enough and that's the limit of their ability, there's no reason to try harder. William grinned as he thought of this.

I wonder what Golden Girl is up to...

At the mention of her nickname, Cerulea sneezed from across the table during family breakfast.

"Little Ceru, are you feeling alright?" a kind-looking man with a thick beard asked. His name was Korin, and while his expression was calm, his foes on the battlefield would see a completely different side of him.

"Just some dust, dad. How can we possibly get sick?" Cerulea replied while wiping at her nose.

"You never know what's out there. Even in the Mortal Realms, there sometimes exist dangers that can damage us. Speaking of, how is Efretta doing?"

Cerulea's father could have just peered at William's World, but Cerulea knew that he wasn't the kind of person to snoop in others' business.

She shrugged her shoulders, "It's going well."

A few seats away from her, Aegion smirked but said nothing. He knew the situation on Efretta as well as Cerulea, but he had no intentions of telling his father. After all, he had been promised a nearly developed World Seed if he didn't tell, how could he pass up on that?

World Seeds only appeared once every few hundred million years, and a developed one took even longer. Other than the initial seed that formed when one became an Ascension Realm Cultivator, there was no way to gain more.

It went even further than that, though. Consuming undeveloped World Seeds would only give a slight improvement to someone of Aegion and Cerulea's caliber. Even their unstoppable father could only spare three fully developed World Seeds for them both.

Across the table from Aegion, Cerulea's sister could read her expression like an open book.

Better than well, Cerulea was excited. But only Cerulea and Aegion truly knew why.

It had only been a few months, but that William boy had almost completely unsealed the World already. Cerulea put up a little resistance to show that she still cared, but she didn't press him too far so he wouldn't be slowed down.

She was surprised at William's tenacity and ability to produce his own Magical Beasts, but it eventually reminded her of someone. As she periodically watched William fight, Cerulea noticed the same things that Juhi did.

William's abilities were plentiful and unique, and... they were just like Efretta!

"That's great to hear. Oh, I forgot to mention this earlier. Are you familiar with Ninover?" Korin asked.

"Ninover? The man that was parasitized by Efretta during the battle almost a million years ago? I heard he went crazy after a while, didn't he lock himself up and enter seclusion?" Aegion asked with a raised eyebrow.

"That's right, but it was eight hundred and eighty thousand years ago. That woman was so talented for being only twenty thousand years old back then..."

"I was rounding, father. But what about him?"

"Apparently he died a few years ago."

"Died? How?" Cerulea and Aegion asked in unison. They both knew how powerful Ninover was; his Cultivation should allow him to live to at least three hundred million more years.

"The truth is, it wasn't just a typical parasite that entered Ninover's body. We couldn't guarantee that killing Ninover would also destroy the thing inside him, so he chose to lock himself up forever. I would even check up on him every few years, but the last time I went to take a look...

Now that he has perished, though, I suspect that whatever was in his body isn't dead, but escaped somewhere. It might try to return to Efretta, so I'll be raising the level of security around your World, Ceru."

Neither Aegion nor Cerulea were surprised that the being inside Ninover wasn't normal, having guessed so long ago through their information channels. She even assumed that the being her dad spoke about was already inside William, since his appearance was so sudden and his abilities matched Efretta.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

That said...

Korin's last sentence put Cerulea on edge. If her father goes to her World, he will instantly guess the situation. Her plans of using William to learn some new skills would be completely wasted. Not to mention, her despicable mother would probably try to snatch away the World Seeds.

"I'll support her, father. There's no need to push yourself like this." Aegion spoke up suddenly.

Cerulea looked at Aegion with suspicion, but a quick glance from him told Cerulea everything she needed to know. He was still after the World Seed she promised.

She smiled ingratiatingly, though she hated every moment of it. "Thank you, brother."

"That's great! The two siblings team up and protect the World; I approve!" Korin was happy to see the pair finally cooperating.

Cerulea and Aegion both smiled, but the glimmer in their eyes was because of something else. Their act was effective, almost too good to be true, but an odd sensation from the Mortal Realms prevented Cerulea from thinking about it any further.

Cerulea's eyes turned golden, and she blinked a few times before looking down. Aegion noticed Cerulea's change in demeanor and did the same, directing his gaze to the Mortal World Efretta.

Ripples spanning the entire World were spreading in every direction, passing over its surface tens of times at great speed. In the center of it all, the Wall of Laws near the core fully dissipated, the pile of chains disintegrating into dust as an alluring figure with eyes reflecting a pool of lava stepped out.

Just one step, but Efretta was already on the surface. Her Cultivation had dropped to the Ascension Realm, but nothing could take away her comprehension of the Elements or her battle awareness. She lifted her head to the sky, staring directly at Cerulea across the myriad Realms.

Cerulea broke out in a cold sweat as her view was shattered by an unknown force, but Aegion was still able to perceive the situation. He saw Efretta become extremely weak and kneel on the ground, but then she stood up once more and looked at Aegion next.

Moments later, he was in the same condition as Cerulea, but he smiled.

It's finally begun.
