Rise of the Blood Sovereign

Chapter 94 The End of the Holad Family

94  The End of the Holad Family

The guards and the close associates of Lordic had all gathered in front of the dining hall, but none dared come close as the poisonous gas still lingered in the hall.

It didn't spread out too much, and even wind was seemingly unable to affect and move the cloud as it continued lingering in the air, making sure that nobody was able to get close to Lordic and offer any help.

Upon seeing all the Bronze Knights dead, everyone was shocked and wanted to find a way to get in, but even the Silver Knights that were present in the mansion were incapable of doing so.

They could sense that if they were to get close, they would die as the poisonous cloud was something they couldn't deal with.

Even taking a step closer to the cloud was enough to make the Silver Knights feel despair and sense their incoming death as it was something far beyond their means.

They were forced to watch the mistress of the house hug the family head and then collapse on the floor. Many had their eyes opened wide as they saw the head's regretful and tearful face before he as well fell down on the ground.

The vitality of a Golden Knight was something normal people could never even comprehend, but the poison that had been unleashed was something so incredibly powerful that even a Golden Knight was only able to survive for less than two minutes before falling dead.

Lordic was alive for about 5 more seconds after collapsing on the floor, and that was when everything suddenly clicked.

He could see and feel a presence from outside the window. A man was standing in a house close to the mansion and was staring at him.

Morn's final words and the use of such deadly poison made Lordic suddenly remember what had happened a couple of weeks ago.

The magister Ilya who was presumed dead had actually been masquerading as archmage Irin and it was only found out after the young duke's death.

The assassin that had managed to kill the duke was able to get away, but a powerful poison that had corroded a portion of the forest further showed proof that Ilya was there.

'The Shade' The words rang in Lordic's head as he stared at the figure, anger, and regret filled his body, but he was unfortunately unable to do anything as his life was nearly over.

He stared at the man with hatred, before closing his eyes for the final time and dying.

Lyle stood on the rooftop of a house that was opposite the mansion of the Holads.

With him being so far away, he had limited visibility, but he was still able to see what was happening in the Holand mansion. With a special pair of binoculars, he was able to peek through the window of the dining hall and observe everything that happened.

He didn't do it at first as Lordic was an incredibly powerful assassin that would definitely sense that someone was spying on him and his family. Even his wife was more powerful than Lyle and would have probably been able to sense him.

Lyle first waited until his connection with Morn was gone, only then was he certain that it was fine.

Upon looking through the window with his binoculars, he could see Morn lying on the ground, dead.

His siblings had fallen as well, as did the servants and guards that were in the dining hall.

Lordic was down on his knees while his wife slowly came to him and hugged him, and then she fell as well.

Lordic's eyes staring back at him was something that Lyle didn't expect to happen as the man simply fell down to the side and was luckily able to look out of the window.

Still, it mattered little as Lordic's life was almost over at that point.

He could see anger and regret in Lordic's eyes, but it was too late for the man to do anything as the poison Lyle had given and ordered Morn to use was something that came from Ilya's personal stash.

It was only after Lyle had used the beginner-level book of poisons and had studied it that he was suddenly able to recognize most of the poisons inside the spatial ring. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Even though the book was seemingly for beginners, it allowed him to have enough knowledge to understand just how potent and powerful most of the poisons were, and he knew the important things for those that could deal with a Golden Knight.

For those that Lyle had no information about, he speculated that they were meant for Titled Knights, which was a level that Lyle was completely unfamiliar with.

With him knowing how the poisons worked, he gave a small vial to Morn. There were a couple of poison vials that were potent enough to deal with a Golden Knight, and although Lyle would have preferred to only use them when absolutely necessary, he had to use one this time as he did not wish to be forced to fight Lordic in the future.

If killing the entire family and the innocent servants and guards was the only way Lyle could be certain that he would be safe, then so be it.

Killing kids was not something Lyle did, and each time he was forced to do so in order to successfully finish a mission, it left a bad taste in his mouth and he would need to spend some time alone in order to calm himself down and forget about the horrible actions he did.

This time, however, Lyle felt nothing, even after seeing the kids down on the floor, dead because of his order, he felt absolutely nothing.

Lyle was able to sense that his emotions were different recently.

Emotions such as regret and anger were much easier to control compared to how they were in the past, but Lyle was also able to sense that it was easier for him to start liking someone, much easier in the past.

It was all thanks to his new race.

Vampire Lords were known for being heartless and ruthless, but they were also well-known as romantics that left broken hearts everywhere after falling in love and getting bored by the person in a short period of time.

Lyle knew that it was his bloodline that had started influencing his emotions. In a way, it was convenient as he was able to do things that would have bothered him in the past without batting an eyelid, but it also gave him a slight problem as falling for someone and lusting after people was not something he really liked to feel.

Still, he was confident enough that with enough time, he would master controlling his emotions and wouldn't have a problem with something like that, but the only question was how long it would take him.

Lordic and his wife being dead allowed Lyle to now breathe out a sigh of relief.

He had dealt with Morn and his incredibly powerful father.

Lyle had no ill will toward Lordic, but unfortunately, his son had wanted him dead, and the only way Lyle could safely get rid of someone like that was by making sure he and everyone that backed him was gone.

Lyle put the binoculars back in the spatial ring before making his way back.

He could actually go into the dining room to retrieve the spatial rings of all those that had died, but doing so would alert people and he could potentially be discovered during his infiltration.

He had an antidote that would allow him to go through the poisonous gas with no difficulty and he even thought of trying to blackmail Lordic with the antidote, giving him small portions at a time and making sure that they would need him in order to survive, only to quickly erase that plan from his head as that was simply far too dangerous to be done.

Lordic was no fool and he would definitely do his best to find out who had poisoned him and his family and wouldn't simply stand still. He was a proud man that would return any grievance and attack tenfold and Lyle wasn't about to risk his life by blackmailing such a dangerous and powerful man.

Morn was the one that wanted him dead, and he was simply forced to respond and eliminate a threat, alongside any other threats that came with him.

Upon coming back to his house, Lyle could see Adam sitting down with Wan and Olman.

The three men all were drinking tea and were staying silent, with Adam staring at Olman at all times and making sure the latter was not doing anything.

"Morn is dead." Lyle's words suddenly broke the silence and announced his arrival as Wan and Olman stood up, shocked.

"His siblings, his mother, and his father are dead as well, alongside some servants and guards." If the previous words were powerful enough to make the two jump, then these were enough to cause both men to freeze and show great fear.

They knew how powerful Morn's father was, and for Lyle to actually kill someone like him so easily spoke volumes of the true strength and danger of the man that was standing in front of them.
